Speed Writing
Abacus speed writing is a technique often used in abacus learning. It involves quickly writing numbers and calculations, which can help improve concentration, focus, memory, and listening skills. This technique is beneficial for both right and left-handed students.
In the context of abacus learning, speed writing can complement other techniques such as understanding and reading an abacus. It can help students count up to eight to nine-digit numbers and read and set any number between ‘0’ to ‘999999999’ on an abacus.
Benefits of Speed Writing
Increased Automaticity
Lessens the burden on working memory. This means that you don’t have to actively concentrate on the act of writing itself, and that you can instead focus on thinking about what to write.
Increased Overlap
Between the mental generation of output and the consequent production of text relating to that output. This means that you can write your thoughts down immediately as you are forming them, without suffering from a delay which hinders your thought process.
Improved Performance
Improved performance in various academic tasks, and especially those that require a lot of handwriting under time constraints, such as taking notes during lectures or writing essays during in-class exams.
